Rantings of an IT Pirate

As a pirate is passionate about the open sea, such is my passion about technology. I am the first "ethical" IT Pirate.

Study groups so far

We have completed 1.5 years of study groups.  So far we tackled: 70-290, 70-291, 70-294, 70-620.  There are self-study groups happenning now for 70-298, 70-299 which are on Windows Server 2003 Security,  299 is administration and 298 is design.  There is also a study group going on for SQL 2005.

Speaking of which, a new User Group called OttawaSQL.net is about to start which will focus on SQL.

While the success rate of attendees for the study group actually attaining certification is not as high as I initially wished, we are doing well.  Several members did take the exams and certify as MCP.  Currently 1 member certified as MCSE and 2 members certified MSCITP by completing 70-622 to combine with their 70-620.  We did not even do the group yet!!!!

Study group for 70-622 starts in February.  We are also in discussion about other self-study grouos along with the format for them.

December 17 this year, we had the first study group party which will become the standard after completion of each module.  Team Leaders received recognition awards.

 Distinguished awards went to:

David Meyers for inspiration and being the spark behind the new study group format. Dave drives from Brockville weekly for the groups.

Todd Lamothe for mentoring at the group despite having certified in 70-620 before the group started.  Todd drives from Kingston weekly for the groups.

Kim Frank for continual learning support and being a guide to all members.

CTE Solutions for ongoing support and sponsorship of the study group by providing our facilities.
