Rantings of an IT Pirate

As a pirate is passionate about the open sea, such is my passion about technology. I am the first "ethical" IT Pirate.

Odd Camtasia sound issue

I blogged some time ago about Camtasia studio by Techsmth ( http://www.techsmith.com ) which is a great tool for screen capturing and making demo videos.  I was demoing some OpsMgr scenarios this week and ran into an audio issue that I want to share.  Now, I had to make 5 videos and only discovered the root cause of my issue after making 4 so will need to redo them.

Camtasia allows you to use a previously saved recording .camrec file and go back and make changes to video and or audio (use filters, add voice enhancements, etc...)  What it cannot do, is use the same file and correct for an audio issue due to a bad initial selection for the source.  By default, Camtasia is configured to use a Mono sound source.  If your voice fluctuates a good deal like me, you will experience reverb in the sound...

It is only by modifying the initial sound input source to stero that you can get away from this...

Hopefully this helps someone save time...
