Rantings of an IT Pirate

As a pirate is passionate about the open sea, such is my passion about technology. I am the first "ethical" IT Pirate.

The SWAG BAG from TechEd…

Typically this is not a subject I would blog about however after seeing some of the SWAG given away at the Microsoft Management Summit and TechED, I felt this was a worthy post.

To start, here is a list of common definitions for SWAG from the urban dictionary:

After collecting enough marketing leaflets which once recycled, can reconstitute a tree, I received some other interesting items.

I collected a number of novelty books this year themed after the “For Dummies” series including Licensing Windows Server 2008 “For Dummies…”

I also picked up a hilarious kids book from Home Server called “Mommy, Why is there a Server in the House?”  I posted the link for this below:

In addition, I received a voucher to write a Microsoft certification exam for $25 and it qualifies for the free second shot…  That is cheaper than the MCT rate… :)

Other giveaways this year included free courses.  I picked up 3 electronic courses.  1 on Active Directory 2008, 1 Exchange 2007, and 1 on Sharepoint 2007.

There were also XBOX 360 consoles, games, Mobile phones, Playstation Portable units, laptops, and netbook equivalent PCs from several vendors…

1 I tried for several times unsuccessfully was a kindle which is an online PDF or elctronic content reader which would allow me to read electronic books on the plane using a workable screen…

Here was my favorite giveaway though…  For the first time, I saw this very special giveaway…  CASH!!!

Yup, different deniminations were being given away.  I saw $100, $300, $500, $1,000, and $3,000!

SWAG has taken on a new meaning!!!

Oh, there were still many squishies, squashies, bobbles, bubbles and as many dingle hoppers and blitz cabooblers as you could think of…

CASH though, is new to me.
